| The I-K-M Community School District serves Irwin, Kirkman and Manilla. The high school and Junior High (7th-12th) are located in Manilla. Irwin has pre-school through 6. In 2003-2004 enrollment is 466. | ![]() |

The district is connected by fiber optics to the Iowa Communications Network. The district has 95 computers, mostly Macintosh, networked between three ICN Laboratories. The staff is trained to use the technology. The public has access to use of the ICN Laboratory. The closest post-secondary opportunities are available at the Western Iowa Tech Community College in Denison, which also has a Buena Vista College degree program, the Des Moines Area Community College branch campus in Carroll, Creighton University and the University of Nebraska/Omaha in Omaha, and Iowa State University in Ames.
